We have merged the technology and use cases of the Simple Extensible Identity Protocol (SXIP) and Digital Identity Exchange (DIX) into the OpenID 2.0 specifications. OpenID 2.0 features include improved extensibility, increased security, substantive identity data attribute exchange abilities, and third-party signed assertion capabilities.

Q. What is User-Centric Identity?

User-centric identity means that each website trusts the user, and the user is free to choose any identity agent that provides the appropriate technical functionality. Thus the user is in the middle of a data transaction. This does not mean the user has to approve every transaction, but that the data always flows through the user's identity agent. This has user control and consent advantages but more importantly, provides huge scale advantages as the Identity Provider does not have to have any prior knowledge of the Service Provider.
