New Structured Blogging Initiative Established

Sxip Identity is participating in the new Structured Blogging Initiative, which was announced today at the Syndicate Conference in San Francisco. The Initiative supports the use of open standards to freely move and share structured content between different vendors' products and services on the Web. Established by a consortium of over 30 companies, the Initiative is intended to keep emerging standards inter-operable on how Web data is created and organized.
Structured Blogging makes it easy to create, edit, and maintain different kinds of posts and is very similar to an edit form on a blog. The difference is that the structure will let users add specific styles to each type, and add links and pictures for reviews. For example, these styles and tags ensure that movie and book reviews don't look like calendar or journal entries, and that each content type can be quickly recognized and processed by automated search services and other applications. The result will allow search tools to easily access the content, much like HTML pages are today, and new consumer-based Web services can be developed.
