Open Source

OpenID

Sxip has merged the technology and use cases of the Simple Extensible Identity Protocol (SXIP) and Digital Identity Exchange (DIX) into the OpenID 2.0 specifications. OpenID is an emerging Identity 2.0 protocol that is an open, decentralized, free framework for user-centric digital identity. New features in OpenID 2.0 include improved extensibility, increased security, substantive identity data attribute exchange abilities, and third-party signed assertion capabilities.

Sxip has contributed to the community, OpenID4Java and OpenID4Perl libraries, licensed under an open source Apache 2.0 license. The libraries are easy-to-use and well-documented, allowing you to add full support for OpenID 1.x, 2.0 and Attribute Exchange into your Java and Perl based applications. Package downloads for the latest version of the Java and Perl libraries for OpenID can be found on the distribution project page at code.sxip.com. In the future, additional updates to the libraries will be made based on the progress of the OpenID Authentication 2.0 specification.

Higgins

Higgins is a framework that will enable users and enterprises to integrate identity, profile, and relationship information across multiple systems. We are excited to see IBM join the user-centric identity movement and being open source, it will be easy for Sxip to work with the Higgins Project to add support for OpenID.

Whobar

Whobar is a technology under development that makes it easy for users to register and login to a website using their choice of emerging identity protocols such as InfoCard, i-names, and OpenID. It is available as an open source module for developers to easily add support of the emerging Identity 2.0 technologies to their site. The benefits of this for users is a common website login experience and for web developers, to streamline their user registration and login process with Identity 2.0 technologies, while maintaining support for their existing user accounts.
